Dear church,
This weekend we will move into the Epiphany season, a season where we focus on the light and love of God that shows up in our ordinary lives. A tradition here at Grace is that we begin the Epiphany season with Star Word Sunday. Everyone in worship will receive a word for the year. Just as the star led the Magi to Jesus, we are given a word that can guide us, enlighten us, challenge us, and maybe even lead us to God. If you’re not able to be with us on Sunday or if you worship online, please call the church office if you’d like to receive a star and we will send one to you!

Most of my sermon on Sunday will be the stories shared by fellow congregants about the star words they received in 2024. The stories are poignant, unique, and full of insight. I’m so grateful to all of you who shared them with me. Believe it or not, I received more stories than I have space for in Sunday’s sermon, so I will also share some of the stories in this weekly email throughout the Epiphany season. Look for those in the coming weeks!

As we prepare to receive our words on Sunday, may we embody the openness, attention, and courage of the Magi, who allowed a star in the sky to guide them to a place unknown and to a child who would set the world free.

In Christ,
Pastor Sarah

Every Friday, we send an email to the congregation and any others who would like to learn more about the Grace community. The last four Friday emails are posted below.
