Dear church,
One of the joys of our life together at Grace in this season is that we are a growing church. We are regularly welcoming new people into worship and into community. It is a gift from God that there are new faces and new stories and new gifts among us, each one shaping who we are and are becoming as a church.
This reality of growth also means that, regularly, I hear people say, “There are so many people around here that I don’t know!” I hear this, obviously, from people who are newer to our community, but I also hear it from people who have been part of Grace for a long time. They recognize and celebrate the changes in our community, and I hear among them a longing to get to know the people they don’t yet know.
And so, this coming Sunday, right after worship, we are creating a space we’re calling “10 minute connections.” It’s intended to be an intergenerational space where we actively build community with one another. It will help all of us meet a few new people at Grace, or learn something more about someone we’ve met, but haven’t had a chance to talk to more deeply.
How will it work? We will meet in Friendship Hall, and we will split up into groups of 2 (or 3 if needed). Pastor Reed and I will give you a question, and then you’ll talk to each other for 10 minutes about that question. And don’t worry! It’s going to be an accessible, easy, not super-vulnerable kind of question. After 10 minutes, you’ll find a new person to talk to, and we’ll do the same thing again, with a new question. We’ll do this four times, so everyone will walk out of the room having connected with four different people.
We really hope that many of you will join us this Sunday! We promise to wrap up by 11:40 so that families are free to move into the rest of their day and get to Mother’s Day brunch if that’s part of your celebration! Hope to see you there!
Pastor Sarah
Every Friday, we send an email to the congregation and any others who would like to learn more about the Grace community. The last four Friday emails are posted below.
