Dear Church,

Part of the summer rhythm at Grace is to slow down the pace of programming, to reflect the realities of people’s summer travel and time spent outside in Creation. That means, in the summer, we don’t offer weekly forums after worship, but do offer sporadic forums – times to gather intentionally and build community, beyond our consistent fellowship time of coffee and cookies.

And in our summer liturgy, we’re taking some time at the start of worship to connect with those sitting around us – to say hi, welcome each other to the space, and introduce ourselves. Last week, Pr. Sarah challenged folks to sit in a different part of the sanctuary – and I hope you met someone new through that experiment!

We know that as our community grows and changes, there are many new people to meet, and new stories to hear – whether you’ve been at Grace for decades, or have just started attending a few weeks ago. And so this upcoming Sunday, the 28th, we are hosting another round of 10-minute connections after worship during the forum hour!

This is a participatory gathering, where you sit with four different people, and respond to four different questions. We encourage folks to start by sitting with someone they don’t know very well, but even if you end up sitting by someone you’ve known for a while, the questions are designed to prompt stories and connections that might be new to you.

This round of 10-minute connections will be in Koinonia Hall (to the right when you leave the sanctuary), and we’re hoping that by spreading out the seating, it’ll be a little easier to hear each other and talk. It is always a gift when we take the time to get to know a few people a little better – so we hope to see you after worship this week!

In Christ,

Pastor Reed

Every Friday, we send an email to the congregation and any others who would like to learn more about the Grace community. The last four Friday emails are posted below.
