A Note from Pastor Sarah:

Dear Church,

My heart is aching, as I’m sure yours is, too. It’s been yet another unprecedented week of violence, terror, and fear. Today has been declared by Governor Walz a Statewide Day of Unity, Peace, and Service. Today we are all asked to commit ourselves to collective care and healing. Nothing is too small, and everything matters.

There are two specific invitations I wanted to send your way: this memo that has been put together by ISAIAH that includes several ideas for things you can do, today and in the days to come, to act peacefully and in service to neighbor. I encourage you to do at least one of these things! When we act and when we care, it not only helps someone else, but it also helps our own hearts. It puts us in touch with the good and the sacred that is still so at work in us and in our communities. And second, there is a Vigil of Mourning and Action planned for tonight, 4-5:30p, at the State Capitol. At this vigil, we will mourn the death of Renee Nicole Good, we will pray for collective healing and peace, and we will join together in calling for an end to the federal government’s surge of violence and cruelty on our families and communities.

This is the time to dig deep, church, and remember who we are and why we are: to love and to be loved. Together we show the power of that love in the face of evil, violence, and fear.

Thank you for all the ways you continue to be love in the world. It matters so much!

Pastor Sarah
