Habitat for Humanity
Whether you’re able to swing a hammer or make a financial donation toward building materials, you are invited to join our Grace family, as well as friends from Shepherd of the Valley and other area churches, in constructing a Habitat home later this summer. We participated in a Habitat build last summer, and Grace members were an integral part of that project, providing a grateful family with a place to call home.
We’ll be working during the week of August 5-9, which will be sometime during the first six weeks of the build, so full crews of 12-15 volunteers are encouraged. The home will be located on Elm Street in nearby Farmington, and a site supervisor will coordinate the project.
Habitat for Humanity believes that everyone should have a safe, affordable place to call home, and works closely with prospective homeowners from application through construction. They teach about personal finance, mortgages, maintenance and upkeep, and also require “sweat equity” as prospective homeowners actively participate in the building of the home or volunteer for Habitat in other capacities.
Outreach will be hosting a table in the Atrium throughout July with additional information about the Habitat building project.
If you’d like to volunteer on the building crew, please sign up here: Habitat for Humanity Build 2024 — Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church (sotv.org). Please be sure to complete the online waiver when you sign up for your day(s).
