Summer Sermon Series
Summer Sermon Series: You Have Heard it Said, but I Say to You
Over the summer, we will be diving into phrases that are often ascribed to Christianity, but that are inconsistent with the love and ministry of Jesus. These phrases often carry a lot of baggage, harm, and exclusive theology, and so we will take the summer to address them one-by-one and explore alternative phrases. Jesus did this very thing, saying to his friends many times throughout the gospels, “You have heard it said, but I say to you…” Jesus gives us permission to question what we’ve heard so that we can live even more deeply into the love of God. We hope this series will be one of learning and liberation for all of us.
Since we know these sermons will be on the more challenging side, we are being intentional with the rest of worship - focusing on nourishment, connection, and joy. Each week is a stand-alone sermon, and we will send a reminder in the Friday email each week about the week's theme.

Try a New Spiritual Practice this Summer - Centering Prayer/Lectio Divina
Join Rev. Lee Hallstrom as he shares two introductory sessions on these ancient prayer practices over the summer! Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that focuses on the presence of God, and Lectio Divina (Latin for Divine Reading) is a way of listening to the texts of Scripture as if we are in conversation with Christ.
Come be renewed in this time together! No prior experience with either practice is required to attend.
