Are there times when you want to do something special to recognize another person? It might be that you want to honor a person on a special occasion, or you might want to give a financial gift in memory of a friend or loved one.

Grace Lutheran Church offers a Memorial and Gift Fund for precisely that purpose.

FAQ’s

What’s the difference between a memorial and a gift?

A memorial is a financial donation given to honor the memory of a deceased person; a financial gift is generally given to honor someone on a special occasion, like a baptism, confirmation, wedding, or anniversary.

What's the difference between the Memorial Fund and the Endowment Fund

We’ve got both of these giving opportunities available at Grace. Gifts given to the Memorial and Gift Fund are used fully In a timely manner toward Important ministries at Grace. Our Endowment Fund is a separate giving opportunity in which donations are placed into investment accounts and the interest is given out in grants each year.

If my gift is not used immediately, what happens to the money?

Your gift will be placed in an interest bearing account until it is used. However, the interest on your gift will be placed in the “Undesignated Fund” and will not affect the size of your gift. Most gifts will be used in a timely manner.

Who is notified that a memorial has been received?

When a memorial is received, an appropriate card is sent to the family of the deceased indicating that a gift has been given in memory of their loved one.

Can I designate how my gift is to be used?

Yes, this is an option. You may speak with the pastors or the chair of the Memorial and Gift Fund Committee for ideas. If gifts are undesignated, which provides the most flexibility, the committee, in discussion with our pastors, will use its discretion as to how best to use the gift.

Is the amount of a gift kept confidential?

Yes. The person being honored (as well as the family of the person being memorialized) will not be told the amount of your gift.

When can gifts be given?

When you give a gift in honor of a friend or loved one, a special card is sent to that person indicating that a gift has been made in their honor.
