The Grace Choir is a mixed-voice vocal ensemble that sings regularly for worship and on special occasions. The Choir’s repertoire includes both traditional hymns and newer compositions, usually arranged for four voices. The choir always needs new members and invites anyone with an interest in choral singing to join.
Our Musical Heritage
The music program at Grace has a long and respected history. Fred Hillary, Grace’s former choir director, helped establish our strong tradition of singing great choral literature during services and at special occasions. (Fred’s mother sang for the famed Romantic composer Johannes Brahms in Germany.)
Our present choir members are part of that strong choral tradition at Grace. Many have sung in the Choir for more than 30 years — and new members are always welcome.
Steven Boehlke directs both the Grace Choir and Bells of Grace handbell choir. A music teacher for 35 years (last at Rosemount High School), Steve now teaches choral music education courses and works with student teachers from Winona State University. He also serves as artistic director of the Minnesota Valley Men’s Chorale.
Accompanying the Grace Choir on piano is Margaret Boehlke. Margaret also accompanies various school choirs in the area and provides piano lessons to her students.
