Prayers of Intercession, 11/14/21

Gracious God in Heaven… You have created a vast and colorful world. We love our blue oceans, seas, rivers, lakes and ponds. We love the green of our landscapes. We love the white snow-covered mountains, the yellow, orange and red leaves as our seasons change and the golden waves of the wheat fields on a breezy day. We thank you for these colorful scenes.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious God in Heaven… in this vast and colorful world, you have created beautiful hues in your people. Black, brown, red, yellow, white and all the combinations that these create. You created us in your image and you want us to love each other, to be there for each other and recognize that we are all your children. But, oh… how we fight this. You have created our LGBTQIA+ neighbors and you have created trans people and you have created people wo are struggling to know their place in your world. You want us to love each other, to be there for each other and recognize that we are all your children. But, oh… how we fight this. We pray for the willingness to learn about our neighbors, to learn about other faiths, to learn about other cultures and we pray for generosity of spirit that we may truly welcome all into our faith community.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious God in Heaven… we pray for all of those who have experienced homelessness, harassment, emotional and physical abuse and all others who have been marginalized. We pray especially for the young woman right in a neighboring school district who recently suffered cruel online harassment, which included threats and racial slurs. We give you thanks for those who came forward to love and support her and shout that this will not be tolerated. We pray for the courage that we will step up when we see the need to do so.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious God in Heaven… we thank you for our leaders. We thank you for our leaders in government, in medicine, in our neighborhoods and right here in our faith community. Our pastors, Council, Commissions, Committees and so many other volunteers work so hard to better Grace Lutheran Church. We as a faith community decided we want our Welcome Statement to specifically name our LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC neighbors. Give us energy to learn what we need in order to live fully into this promise.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious God in Heaven… we pray for those in need of your care. We pray for Gloria, Yvonne, Nanci & family, Bev & family, Don, Al & Lois, Andi, Roy, Lorraine, Tyler and Marcia.  We pray for medical personnel, those who are sick, lonely and suffering; Mensajero de Cristo Lutheran Church of Guatemala, and all service personnel and their families.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all of this so we can know wholeness, know each other, and know you.  Amen.
