7 Updates on How We’re Going to #BeChurch in These Unprecedented Times

Family of Grace, we are with you.

Together, we committed to do three things during these uncertain times: trust God, care for each other, and look out for our neighbors. Hopefully, you’ve had the chance to join in a worship service online from home, engage with the posts on Facebook and other places, and stay up to date via email. Today, we’re sharing 7 updates since our last email on ways we’re going to continue to be church during these weeks we can’t be face to face.

#1 Response Web Page – Everything you need to know in one place.

We have created a single page on our website with all the information about our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It shares many of the ways we are creatively gathering, fervently praying, and graciously serving all we can. It will also contain each update post we share by email and website. Keep checking back on this site regularly as we’ll keep it updated.

#2 Worship Plans & Hymnal Lending

Worship hasn’t been canceled, it’s coming home. We plan to continue to gather, but in online spaces, for worship each week. We will be sharing live worship experiences, designed thoughtfully for you to worship from home, at our regular Sunday morning worship times at 8:45 & 10:15 am, and we’ll hold Dinner Church at Your House each Wednesday in Lent at 6:00 pm. We will also hold a follow-up chat for by video or call-in at 11:30 am each Sunday. You can join for worship through Facebook, or on our website at the link below.

Would you like to borrow a hymnal? For your own learning, and so you can follow along in some elements of our Sunday online services, we’ve placed a bin of red ELW worship books outside of the west entrance at Grace (rear parking lot). You are welcome to take one for your household. We will arrange returning them at a later date. Please don’t bring them back until you are instructed to do so.

#3 Giving to Grace During This Pandemic

Ministry continues, friends, in new and exciting ways. The doors are closed in order to guard the health of all, but God has not stopped moving, and neither have we. To keep our ministry alive and active, we simply need Grace members to continue to give.

If you already give automatically online, your transactions will continue and we graciously say, “Thank you!”

If you don’t currently give automatically online, this is the time to start. We have a simple, secure system to get started at glcav.us/give. Fill out the form completely, selecting your amount, the General Fund, your method of giving (card or bank transfer), and your frequency (one-time, weekly, monthly, etc.). If you would like help setting this up, or know another member who would, please don’t hesitate to contact Jared at j.rendell@graceofav.org or 612-642-1741. We can help anyone get started in just a few minutes.

If you would like to give by cash or check, you may mail in your offering to the office (7800 West County Road 42, Apple Valley, MN 55124). We will check the mail and deposit these generous gifts regularly.

#4 For Those Without Computer Access

We know a number of our members don’t regularly have access to online spaces. Many of these members have already been connected by phone, and we’ll continue to do so. We have also set up a way for folks to engage via video or call-in conferencing through Zoom. This is a great way for those without computers to call into any group conversations. One of those will happen each week at 11:30 am, when we will host a worship recap and follow-up chat. Here’s how to access that online room:

Call in: 312-626-6799; Meeting ID #4164783219

If you would like to use our Zoom room to connect with others, just ask! We can set up a time for you to gather, and teach you how to use it. This can be a way for any small group or leadership team to connect.

#5 New Facebook Group for Connection, Conversation, & Community Care

We have created a new group on Facebook for the whole family of Grace. Many of you like our page, where we share information, but this group is a space for Grace members designed for you to post encouragement, ideas, questions, pictures and videos, honest grievings, and more. This group will continue through and after this pandemic passes, and serves as a key connection point for us now. Just click the button to join!

#6 Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Thrives!

Our Children, Youth, and Family team is creating incredible ways for you to continue to form faith at home during this time. Grace Bible School, Confirmation, and gForce have all moved to online formats. Emails have been going to Grace families in those specific groups. If you haven’t received those emails, please email Karleigh for Children’s Ministry updates and Vanessa for Youth Ministry updates. We’d love to ensure we have your best contact information. Daily updates, reminders, faith forming home activities, engaging videos, and more can also be found in the CYF Facebook group.
