Prayers of Intercession, 08/18/19

With the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God’s creation.

Lord, our lives push us forward each day, yet, you are here among us, within us, around us. And so, as we come to our prayers, we prepare once more to turn our attention back to you, to see this world with your eyes, to love with your heart, to work with your hands for the presence of your kin-dom on earth.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord, we pray for those who wait and watch and weep this night, this day, and in the hours in between. We remember those who struggle silently with illness, whether it is mental or physical or emotional. We pray that their voice can be heard and understood without violence and all people will be able to unite to loving one another, respecting one another and understanding how to live together as the new commandment has stated, “Love one another, as I have loved you.” Spread this message into the hearts of all people today, wherever they are, so they may work towards peace and understanding of differences that they may not know yet.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord, we pray for our Grace Lutheran Church community and family. We are continuing to grow as a church and a sign of hope for the community that we are placed in. Help us to continue this journey of being that sign of hope by giving us the strength to work on the house we live in and continue to grow to understand the resources that are in our mist so that we may fulfill your work and be in your image, a sign of hope for all in this community.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Give your stillness and tender hands, God of calm, to all who are facing illness, surgery, or any uncertainty of health. May they know that their times are in your ever-healing hands.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Ever-present God, give us spirits to think with your mindfulness, give us voices to speak your message, and give us courage to act according to your will and for the sake of your world. May we respond to your call to come and see by faithfully following your Son, Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Into your hands, gracious God, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.
