Prayers of Intercession, 06/02/19

With the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, let us pray for the church, the world, and all of God’s creation.

Lord, you are merciful and just; loving all that you created and seeing that your works are good. You draw all creation to you with cords of love but you bind us loosely, your love is such that we are free to return your love or break away. When we do break away, please help us find your way so that we can be fulfilled and bring light back to this world, especially after the tragedy that unfolded on Friday in Virginia Beach.

God, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, we know there is political unrest, oppression, and violence of every kind in this world, but we also know there are people helping people every day, and people volunteering their time, talent, and money to make this world better. Help us love everyone the way you love us. Help us live joy-filled lives as an example to others that joy changes mindsets. Help us live in peace and offer peace to each other as a way of life. Help us be patient in every circumstance and with every person we meet. Help us offer kindness to each other every chance we get. Help us choose to be good to one another all the time. By living lives willed with the fruit of the spirit, Lord, help us change the world we live in and the lives of those around us.

God, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Give your stillness, God of calm, to all who are facing illness, surgery, or any uncertainty of health, especially Sheldon, Jeff, Roland, Brad & family, Dan, Ginny, Barb, Sophie, Dave, Tricia, Mensajero de Cristo Lutheran Church of Guatemala, and all service personnel and their families. May they know that their times are in your ever-healing hands.

God, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Listen to us when we call upon you, most merciful God, and grant us grace to entrust our lives and our world to your unfailing love, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Into your hands, gracious God, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.
