Prayers of Intercession, 12/09/18

With the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God’s creation.

God of hope, in this season of Advent, remind us of the glad tidings of great joy that come to us as a baby in a manger. The things that we have, the things that we are thankful for. Yet open our eyes to the good news of Christ’s presence in our lives and in the lives of all people, but especially those who suffer and are in need. We pray for people who are depressed, homeless, lonely, sick and who are at war with themselves, or other people. Give them comfort and reprieve from their struggles. And give them, and us, hope in the glorious future of your coming kin-dom as we hope to walk hand in hand, when your justice shall reign and your love shall transform the world.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

O God, our keeper, Mother, Father and Savior, we pray for the followers of this church through the century whose compassion and legacy provided us with a path, a vision, a sign of hope. We also pray for our present contributors and followers for their time, talents and support. Let them be blessed and honored through love, grace and with purpose so that our church can reap what we are sowing here and may it reflect your vision of what your son, Jesus Christ helped plant. These are the seeds he scattered long ago and that he held with himself on that cross. Hope we see with his eyes and share his generosity, love and compassion with the community and the world, and make this a place where you can rest your arms on our shoulders and know we are fulfilling your word just as your Son had done before.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of care, we pray for friends and family who are ill, facing uncertainty of heath and need your care at this time. We especially call out your care for Rick’s family, Ruth, Dakota, Jeff & Liz, Yvonne, Nancy, Ed, Mark, Adam, Roald & Shirley, Dave, Mary, Dick & Joanne, Marilyn, Alec, Karen, Len, Haley, Dawn, Jackson, Sue, Stephen, Tricia, Mensajero de Cristo Lutheran Church of Guatemala, and all service personnel and their families including Kyle, who is currently deployed. We bring them to you in the confidence that you love them and know their every need and that your healing power is still the same today. Bless all that is being done for their recovery and answer our prayer as you see best.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Into your hands, gracious God, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.
