Opportunities to Serve, 11/15/17

Assisting Liturgists rule the world!

It’s a little-known fact that Grace Assisting Liturgists (the people who help the pastors with worship on Sundays) rule the world! In fact, YOU can rule, too, by being an A.L.! Just mention your interest to a pastor or Laurel, and together we’ll make it happen. This opportunity is for non-singers and singers alike.

Being a leader is Fun!

Take it from the Nominating Committee: it’s so much fun to be a leader! This team is looking for candidates to serve as church leaders in several commissions and committees in 2018; all confirmed members are invited to share your gifts by participating in one of these leadership roles at Grace. It’s a great way to be involved in the life of your church, have good fun and make new friends! There’s a place for YOU on one of these teams. For more information, contact Laurel in the church office.

C.A.T.C.H. unit family needs housing

A working mother with four children needs a 3 (or 4) bedroom home/ townhome/duplex/apartment in Apple Valley or surrounding area to rent. If you know of anyone who accepts housing choice vouchers (Sec. 8), please call Colleen Stone, 952-457-4324.

Simpson Housing

In 2016 Simpson Housing made a huge impact on individuals experiencing homelessness through housing, support and advocation. They served 3,892 people, which included 263 families, 111 singles, and 539 children.

We can continue to help support these individuals by collecting toiletry items! There will be a clear bucket in the church office all the time to collect supplies & will be displayed in the Narthex on every 3rd Sunday. Items to be collected include; baby wipes, baby oil, toothpaste, floss, razors, shaving cream, deodorant, foot powder, lotion, Q-tips, facial tissue, combs/brushes, bar soap, body wash, travel size shampoo/conditioner, diapers/pull ups, women’s pads & tampons.

If you have any questions, please contact Dani Martin at wolfd@csp.edu.

You can be an usher!

We are in great need of ushers for all services—it’s easy, fun and a great way to serve Grace. We especially need our students to help with the Wednesday evening service. If you are able to help on a regular basis or as you can, please contact Lee Nelson, 952-892-1387. Thank you so much!

New Brass Ensemblebrass_ensemble

We are forming a new Brass Ensemble at Grace! Dust off that instrument, oil those valves, grease that slide!

If you are in high school or older, please join us as we add to the musical excitement at Grace. If you have any questions, please contact Steve Boehlke at Soboehlke@gmail.com or 651-253-2379.

We need additional volunteers for two-hour shifts, from noon to about 2:00 p.m. No heavy lifting. Helping others in this manner will leave you with a very rewarding feeling.

We need assistance with straightening the sanctuary pews. This would involve walking through the sanctuary to straighten and refill the pew racks about once a month. Time required is about two hours, depending on how many people work together as a team.

Coffee Drinkers:

The Sunday morning coffee ministry needs you! If you enjoy this time of coffee, snacks and fellowship please consider volunteering to host. This is a low-stress commitment for just a few Sundays a year. Contact Naomi Owen, 952-221-5640 or Cheryl Willert at 952-431-3849 if you are willing to help.
