Prayers of Intercession, 12/31/17

With the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God’s creation.

Lord, whether we leave behind a year of joy or a year of trials and difficulties, we pause to give thanks. Thank you for being with us every day of the year. Thank you for making all things new and for giving us the grace of fresh starts and new beginnings. Remind us of your presence in the days to come, even when we feel pushed and rushed by busyness. Be present in our lives this year.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious God, in the midst of our pain and weakness, strengthen our faith that we may be filled with hope in you. In the midst of our frustrations and discouragement, give us patience that we may accept our own limitations. In the midst of our loneliness and fears, help us know we are not alone, that you walk in each moment of our lives.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord, as the weather turns colder, help us remember to care for our friends and neighbors. Let us continue to support, volunteer, and encourage organizations aimed at helping all be fed and warm this winter. Help us to remember those who might have less, and use our gifts and abilities to ensure safety for all.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Holy Spirit, may all our family and friends who need miracles this year feel your presence. May whoever is feeling weak be given strength. May all those who have heavy burdens have their load lightened. Please bring peace and comfort to all those in need in our congregation including: Annette and Hannah & Michelle; Paris, Tarah, Judy, David, Herb, Don, Linda’s sister and brother-in-law and family, Al, Haley, Dawn, Jackson, Sue, Sharon, Stephen, Tricia, Ginger, Mary Pat, Mensajero de Cristo Lutheran Church of Guatemala, the Clown Ministry, Lutheran Health Care Bangladesh, and all service personnel and their families.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Into your hands, gracious God, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.
